On May 15, ZetaChain, a Layer 1 blockchain operator focused on interoperability, introduced ZetaChain 2.0, the first universal EVM for chain abstraction, in an official blog post.
ZetaChain 2.0 is a series of proposed upgrades that extend the following current features of the generic EVM stack: 1. Messaging and asset management become composable, enabling abstract processing of complex multi-step transactions and simplifying user operations. 2. Universal applications can combine user assets across multiple chains. Users can enjoy application services on multiple chains by simply interacting with one application on ZetaChain. 3. Universal Proof of Stake allows users to pledge native assets (e.g. BTC, ETH, BNB) to ZetaChain's PoS, earning rewards, and enhancing cyber security. 4. Added Bitcoin compatibility, IBC (Cross-Chain Communication Protocol), and additional chain integrations, enabling more users and wallets to access generic applications on ZetaChain.
