According to The Information, Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI has been in talks with Oracle executives to spend $10 billion over the next few years to lease Cloud as a Service from Oracle, according to a person involved in the talks. The deal would make xAI one of Oracle's biggest customers, as Musk tries to quickly catch up with competitors who have spent billions of dollars on dedicated servers needed to train and run conversational artificial intelligence. The proposed $10 billion deal is similar in size to the deals that OpenAI and Anthropic, two leading artificial intelligence developers, struck with larger rivals than Oracle.
