The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a civil enforcement lawsuit in the Southern District Court of New York, alleging that Mek Global Limited, PhoenixFin PTE Ltd., Flashdot Limited, and Peken Global Limited jointly operate a centralized digital asset exchange called KuCoin, which has repeatedly violated the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC regulations. In the ongoing lawsuit against KuCoin, CFTC seeks to return illegal gains, civil fines, permanent transactions and registration bans, as well as issuing permanent bans for further violations of CEA and CFTC regulations.
