On May 14th, NEAR protocol announced that the number of shardings on its mainnet has increased from 4 to 6. This upgrade has increased the transaction processing capacity of the network by 50%. It is expected that by the end of Q2 2024, NEAR will also launch the stateless verification function on the mainnet, and the throughput of each sharding is expected to increase by another 5 times.
