Cyber security firm Kaspersky has discovered an advanced information-stealing malicious software called Stealka that poses a significant threat to cryptocurrency users. The malicious software was first discovered in November 2025, often disguised as modifications and pirated software, and spread through trusted platforms including GitHub, SourceForge, and Google Sites.
Stealka will pretend to be plugins and mods for popular games like Roblox and Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), as well as cracked versions of genuine software like Microsoft Visio. The attackers also set up fake professional-looking websites to distribute the malicious software, making it difficult for users to identify the threat without adequate security protection.
