Bitcoin Core developer: Quantum computing won't break Bitcoin in the short term, but protocol modifications could take 5-10 years

Jameson Lopp, a Bitcoin Core developer and co-founder of cryptocurrency custody company Casa, said in a social media post that quantum computing does not pose a threat to Bitcoin in the near future. However, thoughtful changes to the Bitcoin protocol (and an unprecedented migration of funds) could take five to 10 years. While one should be optimistic about the future, one also needs to prepare for the worst.
