According to Specter, a researcher on the chain, the address of 50 million USDT lost due to phishing yesterday left a message to the attacker on the chain, saying that it has been officially filed, and with the assistance of law enforcement agencies, cyber security agencies and multiple blockchain protocols, a large amount of actionable intelligence has been collected on the attacker's related activities. The wallet address controlled by the attacker is now under 24/7 monitoring.
The attacker is required to return 98% of the stolen assets to the designated address within 48 hours, in which case $1 million is reserved as a white hat bounty for discovery and disclosure of the vulnerability; but the offer is conditional on the attacker's full and timely cooperation. Once the funds are returned, the victim will consider the matter closed and no further action will be taken.
If they refuse to cooperate, the case will be escalated through legal and international law enforcement channels to identify the attacker and pursue criminal and civil liability.
