On December 20, according to @StarPlatinum_, the Department of Justice today released Epstein investigation documents, related emails show that Jeffrey Epstein's donation of $850,000 to MIT indirectly funded the digital currency initiative, which hired Bitcoin Core developers such as Gavin Andresen and Wladimir van der Laan when the Bitcoin Foundation collapsed in 2015.
The email detailed nine secret visits to MIT by Epstein, code-named "Voldemort." It showed meetings at Epstein's mansion with Brock Pierce (an early Bitcoin investor and co-founder of Tether) and Larry Summers (a former US Treasury secretary), suggesting that they discussed Bitcoin long before it became mainstream. Summers, despite his concerns about reputational risk, is optimistic about Bitcoin's opportunities.
Epstein also sought contact with Steve Bannon in 2018 for cryptocurrency tax advice, including how to handle tokens and circumvent campaign finance rules, as well as a blockchain book he purchased in 2017 that revealed his elite network connections in the nascent cryptocurrency space, but there was no evidence he had actual influence on bitcoin development.
Epstein has repeatedly followed the development of bitcoin and indirectly funded the early bitcoin ecosystem
