The Federal Reserve announced that it would seek public comment on "payment accounts" that the Financial Institution Group would allow for the clearing and settlement of limited payments. Unlike the main account, which pays no interest and does not have access to Federal Reserve credit, and is subject to balance caps and other restrictions, the main account is the account that the Financial Institution Group currently uses to access the Federal Reserve's payment services.
