The Federal Reserve's Williams said on Friday that certain "technical factors" may have distorted the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for November, causing it to be lower than the actual level. Williams said: "There are some particular practical factors related to their inability to collect data in October and the first half of November.
Because of this, I think some categories of data are distorted, which may have caused the CPI data to be pulled down by about 0.1 percentage points. "Williams also said the U.S. economy was in" good shape "and suggested he would" eventually see "lower interest rates. But he stressed that he was in no hurry to adjust monetary policy. (Jin Ten)
