On December 18, according to Reuters, Coinbase announced the appointment of former British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne as chairperson of its internal advisory board, aiming to expand its influence in governments outside the United States.
Osborne, who served as chancellor of the exchequer from 2010 to 2016 after the Brexit referendum, is currently chairperson of the British Museum and a partner at investment bank Robey Warshaw LLP. On Tuesday, artificial intelligence company OpenAI also announced that Osborne has been hired to assist in the expansion of its overseas data centers.
Faryar Shirzad, Coinbase's chief policy officer, said the company wants to increase its influence in policymaking outside the U.S., including in the U.K. and the European Union.
