In an interview with Vanity Fair, Susie Wells, the White House chief of staff, said she had made a series of candid and sometimes critical comments about President Donald Trump's inner circle, including calling Mr. Musk an "openly self-confessed" "ketamine user". She also called Vice-President Vance a "conspiracy theorist", Office of Management and Budget director Vought a "far-right fanatic" and criticised Attorney General Bondi's handling of the "Epstein files". On Tuesday, the White House was quick to play down the impact of the interview, with Ms Wells posting on social media that it was a "maliciously slanderous article" that "ignores important context". Mr. Levitt, the White House press secretary, expressed support for Mr. Wells, saying Mr. Trump had "no greater and more loyal adviser than Suzy."
