Following the news that current Chairperson Bostic will retire at the end of February, the Atlanta Fed Board of Directors has started the process of finding the next chair. Under the Federal Reserve Act, regional Fed presidents are selected by the bank's Class B and Class C directors, that is, those who are not affiliated with the Regulated Financial Institutions Group. The final choice must be approved by the Washington Fed Board of Governors. The Atlanta Fed president will become the voting committee of the FOMC (FOMC), which is responsible for setting interest rates, in 2027. (Kim X)
