Kevin Walsh has surpassed Kevin Hassett with a 49 per cent chance of being elected Fed chairperson, compared with 48 per cent for the latter and 4 per cent for Christopher Waller, the other candidate, according to Kalshi, a prediction market. Mr. Walsh's approval rating rose and markets reacted quickly to the news that Mr. Hassett's candidacy was facing resistance over his ties to Mr. Trump, raising concerns about the Fed's independence.
