Market risks are high this week, with a flurry of delayed economic data coupled with a market-wide index rebalancing likely to cause market volatility. This week, the US will release its November jobs report and key inflation readings, which could support or challenge the Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook for the new year. Fed officials cut interest rates for the third time in a row last week, while suggesting they may be open to another rate cut next year as rates approach neutral levels.
The U.S. will also release its Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for November this week. Economists surveyed by WSJ expect the index to rise 3.1 percent year-on-year. Farzin Azarm, managing director of equity trading at Mizuho Securities U.S., said the most important market event of the week was what he described as "one of the biggest liquidation events of the year."
