US President Donald Trump has narrowed the battle for the chairperson of the Federal Reserve to "two Kevin". He has previously expressed his preference for choosing former Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Walsh or National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett to lead the Federal Reserve next year. According to the latest data from Kalshi, the probability of Kevin Walsh being elected as the next chairperson of the Federal Reserve has risen sharply by 25 basis points to 39%, while the probability of Kevin Hassett being elected has fallen by 18 basis points to 54%. The probability of another candidate, Christopher Waller, being elected is only 5%.
Trump said after his latest meeting that Warsh was his top choice for now, but spoke highly of both candidates, both of whom support lower interest rates and believe they should be at or below 1 percent, and markets have now factored in the Fed's more dovish policy outlook.
