According to Decrypt, Florida prosecutors have seized about $1.50 million in cryptocurrency linked to an overseas suspect, Chinese national Tu Weizhi, with AVAX, DOGE, PEPE, and SOL in his wallet. The State Attorney's Office's Cyber Fraud Enforcement Division has obtained a court order to seize assets in Tu Weizhi's name. Tu Weizhi is currently charged with money laundering, grand theft, and organized fraud.
Florida authorities said Tu Weizhi would be arrested if he tried to enter the United States. Investigators noted that the seizure stemmed from an investigation that began in July 2024 when a Citrus County resident reported losing $47,421. The resident wired the money into a program that appeared to be an online investment. The investigation eventually linked the funds to a wallet controlled by Tu Weizhi.
