Bank of Japan officials believe rates are likely to rise above 0.75 per cent before the end of the current rate hike cycle, according to people familiar with the matter, suggesting there could be more increases after next week's rate hike. They said officials believed that even with a rate hike to 0.75 per cent, the BoJ would still not reach the neutral level. Some officials already believe 1 per cent is still below the neutral level. Even if the BoJ updates its neutral rate estimate based on the latest data, people familiar with the matter said, it does not currently expect the zone to narrow significantly. The BoJ's estimate of the nominal neutral rate range is currently around 1% to 2.5%. BoJ officials believe there may also be errors in the upper and lower limits of the range itself, people familiar with the matter said. (Jin Ten)
