Market analysis: The Federal Reserve has approved the renewal of 11 regional Federal Reserve presidents, temporarily dispelling doubts about White House influence

Some Fed watchers had been concerned that Fed governors aligned with Trump might try to block a new five-year term extension for some regional Fed presidents, helping the White House gain more influence on the Fed's policy committee, according to analyst Matt Grossman. The Fed said Thursday that the re-election of 11 of them had been dealt with, removing the risk that the White House might push for the appointment of chairpeople closer to its position at regional banks. Atlanta Fed President Rafael Bostie was not renewed because of his impending retirement. Bostick announced his retirement plans last month; his prospects for renewal were, in the view of some observers, clouded by his disclosure three years ago that he had not complied with rules governing personal financial transactions by senior officials.
