The U.S. Senate has taken a key step in confirming the nominations to chair the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Trump's nominees for CFTC chair Mike Selig and FDIC chair Travis Hill have passed a 52-47 procedural vote to pave the way for final confirmation. A Senate majority spokesperson expects a final vote could take place early next week. Selig, who previously ran the SEC on crypto, will succeed interim chair Caroline Pham, and the CFTC is expected to play a central role in U.S. crypto regulation. Hill currently serves as interim head of the FDIC. His confirmation will formalize the position and continue to push for friendly crypto banking policies.
