Vitalik: Ethereum's occasional "loss of finality" does not pose a serious risk

Vitalik Buterin said that the occasional "loss of finality" of Ethereum does not pose a serious risk, and the key is to avoid "error finalization". The chain can still operate normally under the finality delay caused by the Prysm client side vulnerability. Ethereum expert Fabrizio Romano Genovese said that when finality is suspended, Ethereum is more similar to Bitcoin, and its finality is probabilistic; Ethereum rules are: blocks are "Justified" when they are voted by more than 66% of validators, and "Finalized" after two rounds of Epoch (64 blocks). He pointed out that this happened in May 2023. Polygon claims that cross-chain and L2-related transfers will await finality, and deposits may be delayed but not rolled back or messages invalidated.
