Bitcoin Core developer Matt Corallo said the presence of untrusted parties in the Bitcoin transaction process remains a challenge that could undermine the decentralized ethos of Bitcoin. Matt Corallo also discussed that regulatory challenges have increased as Bitcoin has become more mainstream. He pointed to a significant shift in the ecosystem, with many players now prioritizing investment security over the fundamental principles of non-KYC, decentralized payments. Matt Corallo criticized the community for focusing on securities reform rather than more pressing issues like transaction privacy and decentralization. " We squandered it, consumed the political capital of all cryptocurrencies, and pushed for securities reform to ensure that token offerings were (possibly) legal, rather than trying to ensure that people could make meaningful transactions without attracting the attention of the world, "he said.
