Standard Chartered said in a report on Tuesday that it had cut its 2025 bitcoin price forecast by half to $100,000. At the same time, the bank postponed its long-term target of $500,000 to 2030, from 2028. Geoffrey Kendrick, an analyst at the bank, noted that the downgrade was due to a realignment of demand expectations, including the "end" of aggressive corporate buying by entities such as MicroStrategy, and slower-than-expected institutional adoption through ETFs. Kendrick said future bitcoin price increases would be "driven by ETF purchases alone". Quarterly ETF inflows for Bitcoin have now fallen to 50,000 BTC, the lowest level since the launch of the US Spot Bitcoin ETF. This compares to the quarterly purchases of ETFs and digital asset coffers of 450,000 BTC in Q4 2024.
