Brian Armstrong, chief executive of Coinbase, told the New York Times DealBook Summit that the crypto era was no longer a battle for survival, but a battle for acceleration, with the US "back on the offensive" thanks to policy tailwinds, predictions of market developments and financial resets.
"I'm an optimist, right? I think we're in the midst of a golden age of freedom, and the spread of financial products is driving that change. In crypto, we're seeing a boom in prediction markets. The regulatory framework for stablecoins is now clear. Market structure is poised to be reshaped, and the US seems to be back on the offensive. We have an opportunity to upgrade the financial system with cryptocurrencies and remove a lot of headwinds in the economy. Near the midterm elections, maybe the government will stimulate the market and cut interest rates further. So I'm generally optimistic that we try not to be led by short-term trends."
