On December 9, the Japanese Financial Services Agency amended the Q & A to make it clear that derivatives such as CFDs (Contracts for Difference) with overseas crypto-asset ETFs as their original assets are "not ideal" in China, on the grounds that Japan has not yet approved crypto-ETFs and the investor protection environment is not sufficient.
The Financial Services Agency pointed out that such products are essentially linked to the price of spot crypto assets, belonging to the category of crypto derivatives, and the risk disclosure and system construction are insufficient. Affected by this, IG Securities has announced that it will stop providing CFD trading based on US spot bitcoin ETFs (such as IBIT, etc.). The regulatory direction shows that it is difficult to liberalize overseas ETF-linked crypto derivatives in Japan in the short term.
