Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, said it would be "irresponsible" for the Federal Reserve to set its interest rate target plan for the next six months in advance, stressing the importance of following economic data.
In an interview with CNBC on Monday, Hassett said the Fed chair's job is to look at the data, adjust policy and explain the reasoning behind its actions, so it would be really irresponsible for someone to say "I'm going to do that over the next six months."
