Zcash founders participate in building an anonymous phone service that uses zero-knowledge proofs to protect privacy
According to Decrypt, anonymous phone service Phreeli went live in the United States, allowing users to sign up with just their zip code, without the need for personal information or payment data.
Zcash co-founder Zooko Wilcox acted as a consultant and suggested using a zero-knowledge access pass. Phreeli implemented a zero-knowledge proof encryption system based on this, Double-Blind Armadillo, which can verify bills without saving payment information. Users can pay by credit card or Zcash, Monero.
Nicholas Merrill, founder of Phreeli, which was founded in 2019 and raised $5 million over the past year to use T-Mobile infrastructure, said the company was designed to address the problem of excessive data collection by mainstream carriers.
