The Japanese government submitted a draft supplementary budget for fiscal year 2025 to the Diet on Monday. The general account expenditure reached 18.3034 trillion yen, mainly to fund the first comprehensive economic plan under Prime Minister Tsunae Takaichi. This figure is a significant increase from the supplementary budget of 13.9433 trillion yen in the previous fiscal year. The core of the economic plan will revolve around measures to mitigate the impact of rising prices and investment in growth areas. The budget committee of the lower house of parliament will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the budget proposal. The Japanese government aims to pass the budget during the current parliamentary session, which is scheduled to end on December 17. (Jin Ten)
