CyrusOne has confirmed that human error at its data center in Aurora, Illinois, caused more than 10 hours of downtime in markets operated by CME Group.
Field crews and contractors failed to follow standard procedures to empty the cooling towers before the cold weather set in, eventually resulting in overloading the cooling system and rising temperatures. CyrusOne is jointly owned by KKR & Co. and Global Infrastructure Partners, and the incident has raised concerns about the reliability of financial marekt infrastructure. Earlier, it was reported that on November 28, the CME Group (CME Group) commodity futures trading was suspended.
