The Australian Bitcoin Industry Association (ABIB) has filed a formal complaint with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), alleging that its Bitcoin-related coverage is "factually inaccurate and misleading."
The complaint is directed at an article written by ABC's chief business correspondent Ian Verrender, which described bitcoin primarily as a money laundering tool, claiming it had "no useful purpose" and referring to money laundering as its "last useful business". ABIB said the report used a one-sided framework that conflated bitcoin with criminal activity, while ignoring legitimate applications of bitcoin in energy stability, humanitarian remittances, and sovereign reserves.
