The Australian Bitcoin Industry Association (ABIB), a cryptocurrency industry group, said it has filed a formal complaint with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) seeking to correct a recent report of multiple misrepresentations and factual errors regarding bitcoin.
The association said in its complaint that the report portrayed bitcoin as a highly volatile asset, a tool for criminals, and ignored its value in power grid optimization and humanitarian assistance.
"The story misrepresents the core uses of Bitcoin, conflates it with criminal activity, omits long-standing publicly available information, and misleads readers with sensationalist statements rather than based on facts," the Australian Bitcoin Industry Association (ABIB) charged.
