Artificial intelligence start-up Anthropic has hired law firm Wilson Sonsini to begin preparations for one of the largest IPOs ever, possibly as early as 2026. The company is in talks for a private funding round that would value it at more than $300 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. It has also discussed potential IPOs with a number of large investment banks, according to multiple people. However, the discussions are still preliminary and informal, and the company has not yet approached the selection of IPO underwriters. "It is fairly standard practice for a company of our size and revenue level to operate as effectively as a public company," said an Anthropic spokesperson. "We have not made any decisions on when or even whether to go public, and we have no news to share at this time." (Jin Ten)
