Astria Network, the Celestia-based Layer 2 shared sequencer project, has officially ceased operations. After about a year on the project's mainnet, the development team voluntarily aborted the network at block height 15,360,577 on Monday, defining it as the end of an "experimental infrastructure project".
Launched in 2023 to provide decentralized shared sequencer services for Layer 2 networks, Astria completed a $5.50 million seed round led by Maven 11 and a $12.50 million strategic round led by dba and Placeholder VC in 2024.
Since the beginning of this year, the project has successively stopped the development of its EVM Rollup product Flame, and shut down the Celestia validator node. The team has not publicly stated the specific reasons.
