In its outlook for 2026, BNP pointed out that if the US Supreme Court rules that US President Donald Trump's use of emergency powers to implement sweeping tariffs is unconstitutional, the dollar could weaken immediately after the ruling. "This is because a key fiscal revenue will be negatively affected, which in turn raises questions about the sustainability of the US fiscal deficit." Analysts said this could lead investors to demand higher premiums to hold dollar assets. However, the report also pointed out that the Trump administration may eventually make up the fiscal gap caused by the loss of tariff revenue by implementing alternative tariff measures. (Jin Ten)
