Grey release Grayscale Research said bitcoin was on track to hit a new all-time high in 2026, a view that countered fears that "bitcoin is entering a deep multi-year decline".
In a report published on Monday, Grey Release Capital pointed out that bitcoin would not necessarily follow the so-called "four-year cycle", where the market generally believes that the price of bitcoin will peak every four years (in line with its halving cycle), followed by a sharp correction.
Analysts at Grey Release Capital said: "Despite the uncertainty surrounding the outlook, we believe that the four-year cycle theory will eventually prove to be wrong, with bitcoin prices on track to hit new highs next year."
According to The Block's price page, bitcoin has been in a volatile trend since the beginning of October, falling 32% from its peak through most of November. On Monday, bitcoin briefly touched $84,000 before bouncing back, and by 2:20 a.m. ET on Tuesday, the price had recovered to $86,909.
Grey Release Capital notes that while long-term investors have historically been rewarded for holding assets in volatility, they have often had to "withstand sometimes challenging pullbacks" in the process, adding that pullbacks of 25 per cent or more are common during bull markets and do not necessarily signal the start of a long-term downtrend.
