Kyle Samani, co-founder of Multicoin, wrote on X: "I've been calling for years for projects to be 100 per cent unlocked on day 1, the only way to achieve effective price discovery. The team that came closest to doing this was Solana, who did a big unlocking in month 9."
Another option worth considering, adds Mr. Samani, is for teams to lock up positions, but for investors not to. This makes sense because investors have done their job - they put money in and the task is done; employees have not done their job - they need to get on with it. There could be some sort of price or time-based mechanism for triggering the unlocking to make it easier for employees to accept this model.
