According to the head of Nasdaq's crypto business, the Nasdaq Stock Exchange in the United States is making it a priority to obtain approval from the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) for its proposal to "provide a tokenized version of listed stocks."
Asked in an interview on Thursday whether the SEC might approve the proposal this year, Matt Savarese, head of digital asset strategy at Nasdaq, said: "We're going to move this as quickly as possible."
"I think we first need to carefully assess the public feedback and then respond to the SEC's questions one by one," said Mr. Savarese, adding: "We hope to work with the SEC as soon as possible."
