Stablecoin issuer Tether issued a final announcement on November 26, announcing that it will stop the liquidation process of the euro stablecoin EUR. As a final step in this process, Tether will stop the EURredemption service on all supported blockchains from November 27, 2025. Previously, Tether has stopped minting EURand will no longer accept new issuance requests.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, explained that the liquidation of EURis to optimize the operational and technical infrastructure and focus more on highly practical networks and forward-looking initiatives. Its focus in Europe will be the Hadron by Tether platform, which aims to make asset tokenization easier and provide issuance, investment and core capital markets technology to institutions, fund managers and governments, among others.
