Tom Lee, chairperson of BitMine, appears to have slowed down his much-publicized prediction that "Bitcoin will reach $250,000 by the end of this year", and now he has only given a "maybe" that it is possible for Bitcoin to return to its October all-time high of $125,100 by the end of the year.
"I think it's still very likely that Bitcoin will be above $100,000 by the end of the year, and maybe even a new high," Lee said in an interview on Wednesday. This appears to be the first time that Lee has publicly softened his target price of $250,000 for Bitcoin by the end of the year. He originally made this prediction in early 2024 and stuck to it until early October.
Lee's prediction is one of the more aggressive bullish views in the industry. Other crypto executives, including Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz, warned in October that "something crazy has to happen" for Bitcoin to reach that level.
