On November 26, Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon and CEO of the Polygon Foundation, posted on social media to discuss whether exchanges should be required to change their token trading codes from POL to MATIC.
Sandeep Nailwal says he keeps hearing feedback from the Polygon trading community that MATIC is a stronger, more familiar trading symbol with historical heritage and recognition that is easier to remember. "People who run grocery stores in the Philippines or Uber drivers in Dubai know about MATIC, but now don't know where it went."
"My position at the moment is: there's too much change in users," said Mr. Nailwal. "We've moved to POL, so stick with it because enough people know about it now. I'm really curious about what the majority of users think, because feedback like this keeps coming in. Of course, there's no guarantee that exchanges will agree to the change."
