Sam Altman's ex-boyfriend was robbed and lost $11 million worth of crypto assets

Surveillance video shows the suspect holding a white package disguised as a courier and ringing the doorbell of the $4.40 million home. When the suspect falsely claimed to be "Joshua" to deliver the package and claimed to be an employee of the UPS partner, the victim opened the door and confirmed that he was Joshua. After asking for autographs and borrowing pens under the guise, the suspect followed the resident inside, and there was a loud noise at the scene.
According to police sources, the suspect held the victim at gunpoint indoors, tied him up with tape, emptied his encrypted account and robbed his mobile phone and computer. When police arrived at 6:45 that night, they found multiple bruises on the victim's body. According to people familiar with the investigation, the gunman stole $11 million worth of Ethereum and Bitcoin, which is believed to be a targeted crime by an organized crime group.
According to people familiar with the matter, the suspect tortured the victim after tying him up, beating him on speakerphone, and the foreign accent on the other end of the phone constantly reported the victim's personal information. The robbers then emptied all their crypto wallets within about 90 minutes.
Owner Lachy Groom, 31, a venture capitalist and ex-boyfriend of 40-year-old Sam Altman, bought the house from the Altman brothers in 2021 for $1.80 million, according to property records.
