Nvidia said on Tuesday that its technology remained a generation ahead of the industry, in response to Wall Street concerns that Google's AI chips could threaten its dominance in AI infrastructure. "We are pleased with Google's success - they have made significant progress in AI and we will continue to provide products to Google," Nvidia said. "Nvidia is a generation ahead of the industry - we are the only platform that can run all AI models and be used universally in a variety of computing scenarios." The announcement came as Nvidia shares fell 3 per cent on Tuesday following reports that one of its key customers, Meta, may strike a deal with Google to use its tensor processing units (TPUs) in its data centres. Nvidia said in the post that its chips are more flexible and powerful than so-called ASIC chips, such as Google's TPU, which are typically designed for a single company or function.
