According to the New York Post, a Hong Kong man has been sentenced to seven years in prison in Canada for participating in an extremely brutal home invasion: four attackers disguised as mail carriers broke into a home in British Columbia, beat a family of three for 13.5 hours, waterboarding and sexual assault threats, and eventually stole $1.60 million worth of bitcoin.
The court called it an "orchestrated, long-term violent crime." The attackers stepped on sites weeks in advance, monitored the victims and set up cameras outside the house to lock down their crypto assets. During the ordeal, the robbers forced the couple to hand over their cryptocurrency.
