Vitalik comments on X "Show account country": short-term positive impact, but it is wrong to disclose information without consent

Vitalik posted that my prediction for this "show account country" feature is as follows:
In the short term, it will bring many positive effects. In the medium term, sophisticated actors will find various ways to disguise themselves as users in other countries, such as renting passports, phone numbers, Internet Protocol Addresses, etc. Creating a million accounts with fake geolocation is moderately difficult; but it will be very easy to create a falsely targeted account and let it quickly accumulate millions of followers.
Six months later, the political troopers who actually came from (any Eurasian country) - maybe called "Defending Western Civilization" or something - would change their location tags to "US" or "UK".
(The above is what I think will happen, not what I hope. What I really hope is:
(I) We can gain a clearer understanding of how people in different communities perceive various issues, and this insight cannot be easily falsified.
(Ii) The "community" here should not be limited to a few highly explicit and easily verifiable credentials such as nationality and college degree, but should be a broader, more emergent group identifier that can integrate multiple sources of information.
But I don't think it's easy to build such a system that can withstand adversarial attacks.)
