Well-known trader Peter Brandt said he doesn't think bitcoin will break through $200,000 by the end of the year, as some cryptocurrency industry executives are predicting. In fact, he thinks it could take nearly four years to reach that price.
"Bitcoin's next bull run should push the price to around $200,000, which is expected around the third quarter of 2029," Brant said in a post on Thursday on the X platform (formerly Twitter). At the same time, he stressed that he is "a long-term bull on Bitcoin".
Many high-profile bitcoin proponents, such as BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes and BitMine chairperson Tom Lee, had previously expected bitcoin to reach at least $200,000 by the end of the year. As recently as October, Lee and Hayes reiterated their confidence in that prediction.
