The White House released a statement saying that President Donald Trump has signed an order to modify tariffs on some Brazilian agricultural products. Trump said that he signed an executive order in July this year to impose an additional 40% ad valorem tariff on certain Brazilian goods. Then in October, he held negotiations with Brazilian President Lula and received additional information and suggestions from various officials. In the opinion of the officials, due to preliminary progress in negotiations with the Brazilian government, and other relevant factors, certain agricultural imports from Brazil should no longer be subject to additional ad valorem tariffs. After considering the information and suggestions provided by these officials, as well as the negotiations with the Brazilian government, Trump believes that it is necessary and appropriate to modify the scope of products for which the previous executive order imposed additional ad valorem tariffs. Therefore, its latest decision exempts certain agricultural products from the additional ad valorem tariffs imposed by the previous executive order, and the new adjustment will apply to goods entering the United States after November 13.
