On November 20, Michael Selig, the nominee for the chairperson of the US CFTC, said at a Senate Agriculture Committee hearing that if confirmed, he will promote the development of a "clear and simple" regulatory framework for cryptoassets and avoid excessive law enforcement.
Mr. Selig, who served as chief counsel to the SEC's crypto task force, will spearhead key changes as Congress pushes through two bills empowering the CFTC to regulate crypto assets. The hearing also touched on FTX incident prevention and the CFTC's lack of resources. Mr. Selig said he would assess whether additional budgets were needed.
