According to Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, most institutional bitcoin investors don't seem to understand or care about the ongoing battle between Bitcoin Core and Knots over the past few months.
At the heart of the debate over what Bitcoin should be used for, and whether non-financial transactions should be excluded, has been sparked by the recent update to Bitcoin Core v30, which some believe could "open the floodgates" and lead to more "junk" transactions.
Supporters of Knots nodes argue that such "spam transactions" should be filtered out, or risk allowing criminals to use the blockchain to embed illegal or unethical content.
However, Bitcoin Core believes that any restrictions could lead to network fragmentation, user confusion, and violate one of the core principles of Bitcoin technology.
