Japan's GDP contracted for the first time in six quarters

Japan's Cabinet Office said in a preliminary report on Monday that the annualized rate of real GDP in the third quarter, adjusted for prices and seasonality, recorded -1.8 percent, the first contraction in six quarters. Previously, the median market forecast was for a decline of 2.5 percent.
