MegaETH CSO: Ethereum should focus on maintaining decentralization and should not sacrifice these features for competition

Namik, chief strategy officer of MegaETH, tweeted that the value of MegaETH depends on the success of Ethereum. This means that Ethereum must act as a highly decentralized settlement layer, thus justifying a more centralized model for the production of MegaETH blocks. My concern is that if the policy window shifts in favor of centralised L1, the trade-off logic of building MegaETH in the first place will be meaningless. I think Ethereum should focus on maintaining its decentralized properties, rather than giving them up to compete with fast centralised L1. At the same time, I think that for MegaETH to be truly successful, it will have to open up new design spaces in application scenarios where Ethereum L1 does not exist. This does benefit both parties, but more importantly, it justifies the architectural trade-offs.
